David Casini draws the first inspiration of his sculptural work from his native region, Tuscany. Referring to art history, landscape, architecture, craft techniques and materials that are typical of this region of Italy, David Casini conveys an updated reading of it, through a system of fragmentation, gaps and assemblages. Thus, the artist allows an ambiguity into the temporality of the work, transforming its references into living and constantly evolving materials. Foiling the sculpture’s paradigms and its modalities of monstration, his suspended volumes and site-specific installations lead the spectator’s eyes, in order to strike a balance. This search will depend on his ability to fill the voids with his own imagination. The alternation between two-dimensionality and three-dimensionality characterizes the reproductions of landscapes as well as his work on body language. Here, fragments of weightless bodies intersect with multifaceted geometries, blurring a hierarchical reading of the elements that make up the work, between content and container, between figure and background. Through a decomposing process of a single perspective and a fixed meaning, the work contains several points of view, opening up to multiple interpretations.
