Spoiled Waters Spilled est un projet d’exposition, de performance et de discussions centré sur les notions toxicité, de circulation, d’eau (notamment les rivières), d’écologie et d’activisme. Le concept de l’exposition découle de la circulation organique en Méditerranée, se tournant vers des substances fluides, comme l’eau et l’air, qui débordent les frontières étatiques tout en étant affectées localement par l’activité humaine. À travers la poésie, la vidéo, l’installation et la performance, l’exposition examine comment les polluants industriels, agricoles et domestiques perturbent l’image de « carte postale » des villes, déformant les rivières, les sols, les eaux superficielles et profondes et les sédiments impactant de multiples corps. Le projet vise également à explorer la tension croissante entre la nécessité de réponses transnationales au changement climatique et la façon dont les États-nations ferment leurs frontières encore plus étroitement, excluant souvent toutes sortes d’« autres » et externalisant les problématiques environnementales.
Spoiled Waters Spilled is a project with an exhibition, a performance and discussions focused on the notion of toxicity, of circulation, of water (particularly rivers), on ecology and activism. Inspired by the organic circulation within the Mediterranean, the exhibition focuses on flowing substances such as water and air, that cross states’ borders while being poisoned on a local scale by human activity. Through poetry, video, installation and performance, it examines how industrial, agricultural and domestic pollutants disrupt the ‘postcard image’ of cities, degrading rivers, soils, sediments, surface and deep waters, impacting multiple living bodies. Spoiled Waters Spilled also aims at exploring the growing tension between the need for transnational responses to climate change and how nations enforce tougher border policies, often excluding all kind of ‘others’ and externalising the ecological issues.
